New York Mercantile Exchange (part of CME Group)
NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) is the energy futures exchange of CME Group, headquartered in New York City's financial district, sharing the New York Mercantile Exchange building with COMEX as its two divisions (NYMEX handles energy, platinum and palladium; COMEX handles metals). It traces back to the New York Butter and Cheese Exchange founded in 1872 and became the New York Mercantile Exchange in 1882; NYMEX and COMEX merged in 1994 and joined CME Group in 2008. WTI crude oil futures (code CL) trade nearly 24 hours a day on the CME Globex platform, a key global benchmark for energy prices.
