ASX

Australian Securities Exchange (ASX)

The Australian Securities Exchange is the largest market in the southern hemisphere; its benchmark S&P/ASX 200 covers the 200 largest Australian companies — mining giants (BHP/Rio Tinto) and the big four banks dominate, making the index highly sensitive to iron ore/coal prices and the Fed's policy path (which the RBA tends to shadow). Cash sessions (Sydney time): 10:00 opening auction, 10:00–16:00 continuous trading, 16:00 closing auction, closed on weekends; note southern-hemisphere DST (Oct–Apr) runs opposite to the north, so offsets to Beijing/ET flip seasonally.
