AUS200 tracks the S&P/ASX 200 — the southern hemisphere's largest equity index, dominated by the mining duo (BHP/Rio Tinto) and the big four banks, making it a high-sensitivity expression of China demand, iron ore prices and RBA policy: Chinese data and iron ore quotes often gap the index at the open. As the world's earliest major open (10:00 Sydney = 07:00 Beijing during DST), it is the first major index to price the previous night's US/commodity moves. Cash sessions (Sydney time): Mon–Fri 10:00–16:00; closed on weekends. Southern-hemisphere DST (Oct–Apr) runs opposite to the north — check offsets when converting.
