SPX500 tracks the Standard & Poor's 500 (S&P 500), 500 large-cap US companies weighted by market capitalization, covering roughly 80% of US equity value — the most widely referenced equity benchmark in global asset allocation. Its futures trade electronically on CME Globex (E-mini S&P 500, ticker ES), among the most liquid equity index futures in the world: opening Sunday 17:00 and closing Friday 16:00 Central Time, with a daily 16:00–17:00 CT maintenance break; closed on weekends. The S&P 500 is driven by the Fed policy path, earnings season, nonfarm payrolls and CPI data, and global risk appetite.
