GBPUSD
ForexBritish Pound / US Dollar
GBPUSD shows how many US dollars one British pound buys and is among the most traded currency pairs, nicknamed Cable after the transatlantic telegraph cable. The UK economy is highly open with a dominant financial-services sector, making sterling particularly rate-sensitive: Bank of England (BoE) versus Fed policy divergence, UK inflation and labour data, and post-Brexit UK–EU headlines all trigger notable moves. Forex is an over-the-counter (OTC) market with London and New York sessions as its liquidity home turf (London being sterling's home market); trading runs from Sunday 17:00 to Friday 17:00 ET, closed on weekends.
