Pip Value Calculator
What does one pip move mean for your account? Standard, mini and micro lot pip values in one place.
What it is
The pip value is the amount your P/L changes when the price moves one pip — the building block behind position sizing and stop placement. Forex pip conventions are unambiguous: 1 pip = 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for yen pairs, and direct pairs have a constant pip value (EURUSD is 10 USD per pip per standard lot). Cross pairs and commodities need the exchange rate to convert. Note: gold, oil and indices have no unified pip convention — for those, estimate P/L with the Profit Calculator by price instead; this tool fits the well-defined forex world.

What is one pip worth?
Pick a symbol — pip value per standard, mini and micro lot, computed instantly in your browser.
Pip and contract sizes are typical defaults and editable. Most reliable: in MT5, right-click the symbol → Specification, then enter the exact values.

How to use it
- Pick a symbol: forex presets come with conventional pip and contract sizes, or choose "Custom" to enter the quoting decimals (pip size = 10^-decimals);
- Pick the account currency: when the quote currency differs, enter a current exchange rate as prompted;
- Read the result: pip value per 1.00 standard / 0.10 mini / 0.01 micro lot.
The formula
The pip value formula is one line: the price change per pip times the contract quantity, converted to your account currency.
The exchange rate is entered as "1 account currency = ? quote currency" (e.g. with a USD account and USDJPY, enter 153.62). Standard lot = 1.00, mini lot = 0.10, micro lot = 0.01.
Worked example
A USD account trading EURUSD, as an example:
- EURUSD pip size 0.0001, contract size 100,000 → pip value per lot = 0.0001 × 100,000 = 10 USD;
- Mini lot (0.10) = 1 USD per pip, micro lot (0.01) = 0.1 USD per pip;
- USDJPY (USD account): pip value per lot = 0.01 × 100,000 ÷ 153.62 ≈ 6.51 USD.
EURUSD is worth 10 USD per pip per standard lot — a constant for direct pairs; USDJPY is about 6.51 USD per pip, drifting with the exchange rate.
FAQ
Q What is the difference between a pip and a point?
In forex convention, a pip is a move at the 4th decimal (2nd for yen pairs), while a point usually means the smallest quoted increment (5th/3rd decimal, i.e. 0.1 pip). This tool computes pip values with the conventional pip size per symbol.
Q Why is the pip size 0.01 for yen pairs?
Yen-quoted pairs (USDJPY, EURJPY, etc.) are quoted to 2–3 decimals, so one pip corresponds to a move at the 2nd decimal — 0.01. Presets follow the convention and remain editable.
Q Can I use this for gold or oil?
Not recommended: gold is quoted with either 2 or 1 decimal depending on the broker, and index CFD "pips" differ per broker — pip-based estimates can be off by 10x. Use the Profit Calculator for those symbols: enter prices directly and compute from the price difference, no conventions involved.
Q How do I fill the exchange rate?
The pip value is computed in the quote currency first, then converted to your account currency. Enter the rate as "1 account currency = ? quote currency" — for a USD account looking at USDJPY, enter the current USDJPY price (e.g. 153.62). The tool never fetches prices online.
